A very fine cylinder bureau from the last quarter of the 18th Century; cross banded overall with mahogany and with ebonised detail. A Pair of concave fronted drawers above the cylinder front with inlaid bow tied husk swag, oipening to reveal various drawers and compartments, above a drawer and a pair of oval panelled cupboard doors and raised on bracket feet. The commode doors' ribbon banding and inlaid ornament reflects the Roman fashion popularized by Hepplewhite's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788.
